Notice of Race (NOR)
1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules defined by the Racing Rules prescribed by US Sailing (2021-2024) and rules prescribed by the Club 420 Association.
1.2The regatta is restricted (skipper and crew) to girls under 19 years of age as of the date of the regatta.
2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1 The regatta is open to class-legal Club 420’s, and there are two classes that will be scored. One class is for boats rigged for spinnaker and trapeze; the second is for boats sailing only with main and jib.
2.2 Eligible boats must register through TheClubspot.com by 12pm 29 July. Late entries will be accepted after this date however with an additional $10 fee.
2.3 The club has several older club boats available for chartering for $30 for the day. To check for availability, email Juniorsailing@weekapaugyachtclub.com.
3. FEES
3.1 Entry Fees are $60 per boat. Late Entries (after 29 July) will be $70 per boat.
4. SCHEDULE
Check in and registration begins 9:00
Skippers Meeting 10:15
Harbor Start 10:30
First Signal on Race Course 11:00
Last race begins no later than 4:00
Awards and Final Results 4:30 (approx)
5. PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICES
5.1 All competitors shall wear Coast Guard approved PFD at all times while on the water.
6. COACHING
6.1 Coaching will be allowed only between races. Coaches should check with Weekapaug Yacht Club staff for the VHF channel the race committee will monitor.
7. PRIZES
7.1 Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 boats in each class.
8. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
8.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority [Weekapaug Yacht Club] will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
8.2 COVID-19 Liability: competitors, coaches and others attend the regatta at their own risk. The organizing authority (The Weekapaug Yacht Club) accepts no responsibility for any illness or other harm arising from participation in the regatta.
9. VENUE
9.1 All races will be held on Quonochontaug Pond. Boats will launch from the Weekapaug Yacht Club, located at 23 Spring Rock Road in Westerly, RI.
10. SCORING
10.1 The scoring system will be the Low-Point System as specified in RSS Appendix A.
10.2 One completed race shall constitute a series.
10.3 A throw-out will be allowed if six races are completed.
11. COVID Precautions
11.1 If any participant, coach or other attendee of the regatta exhibits any Covid-19 symptoms, they should not attend the regatta. Please inform the Weekapaug Yacht club that you will not attend. Any competitor who does not participate for this reason will have their registration fee refunded.
12. PARKING
12.1 The Weekapaug Yacht Club expects to provide on-site parking for all competitors. If registration exceeds our expectations, then we will provide nearby off-site parking for those we cannot accommodate. A shuttle service to/ from the off-site parking will be provided.
